Status of 1.3

What up?

The list has been really slow over
the last couple of weeks... So I thought
I would throw out the required, "how's
1.3 going?" There's been little movement
on bugs.meego.com and little on the wiki
(outside of the weekly meetings notes).
So there's little feel for how things are
progressing.

We have been having some issues creating new IVI bootable images which are still unresolved. We are also working on converting to kernel 3.0 for the intel-automotive kernel, but this is going slower than expected. Things have also been slow due to several folks taking vacation, just before sending their kids back to school.

Joel

Has the scope of 1.3 release been altered due to the things you mention below?

If the development team cannot create new images, this sounds like someone has to pull the emergency breaks quite soon.

No, the scope has not changed. The bootable images problem seems to be related to changes either in MIC or the installer. I expect these will be worked out this week.

Hi,

Is there going to be a specific version that you think is appropriate
for GENIVI? The GENIVI release date is planned for October 7th but
we're already spinning pre-releases. GENIVI releases usually are
chronologically earlier than MeeGo releases so I thought you might
have a particular version of 1.2.90 that you might think is
representative of MeeGo IVI 1.3.

If not, we can create a version for GENIVI internally.

Regards,

Jeremiah

Given the new direction, will there actually be a 1.3?
Nasa
There will be MeeGo v1.2 Release Updates in Q3/Q4’11 to meet
customer release schedules and requirements but no new MeeGo releases
are planned. Engineering support for MeeGo 1.1 and 1.2 Releases will
continue through Fall 2012

We are still working on resolving the image build problem, particularly why it works for some folks and not others as well as 1.2.0 Update 3 which should be ready in the next week or so, though the main IVI change for Update 3 is an updated version of the EMGD graphics driver, resolving some dual screen issues, which, Nasa, I know you don't care about since you don't use EMGD.

I can't tell you the exact version (I'm at work and that box is waiting
on a new power supply...) However, it's running the sweet new bodhi linux -
which is based off of ubuntu 10.04. It was completely updated at the time
of my power supply going puff... I would have used the repo identified
from the wiki (deb http://repo.meego.com/MeeGo/tools/repos/ubuntu/10.04/ /),
which suggest I have version mic2_0.24.14_all.deb installed. However, I can't
verify that right now -- my new power supply should be in tonight, so hopefully
I can tonight.

I'm not sure what you mean by "installer", could you clarify for the slow
people in the audience?

Nasa
There is a "installer" RPM.
For example http://repo.meego.com/MeeGo/releases/1.2.0/repos/oss/ia32/packages/i586/installer-0.56-9.6.i586.rpm

This is the GUI installer

or
http://repo.meego.com/MeeGo/releases/1.2.0/repos/oss/ia32/packages/i586/installer-shell-0.1-7.1.i586.rpm
which is the text mode installer.

The installer runs from the live USB boot image to copy and install bits on the root file system.

Joel,

Sorry about that... I have been using the text installer, which is
slightly different than the one used for 1.2.0 and is located:

http://download.meego.com/live/Trunk/standard/noarch/

and is version installer-shell-0.6-7.1.noarch.rpm.
